As a Church of England primary school, Diocesan inspections are carried out every 5 years under the framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican & Methodist Schools (SIAMS).

It is pleasing for the school that only a week after the Ofsted inspection in November 2014 that a separate, independent inspection of St Mary's by SIAMS was carried out and delivered very positive findings.

The inspection report states that “The distinctiveness and effectiveness of Winkfield St Mary’s as a Church of England school are good”.

The report goes on to say that:

  • “The school, through its distinctive Christian character, is good at meeting the needs of all learners.

  • Levels of achievement are high and above national expectations.

  • Pupils are confident and articulate.

  • Teachers have a good rapport with pupils.

  • Excellent relationships are evident among the whole school community.

  • The impact of collective worship on the school community is good.

  • The school has good links with local schools and churches.

  • Parents acknowledge the commitment of the headteacher and staff.

  • The effectiveness of the leadership and management of the school as a church school is good”

The findings reflect well the nature and ethos of the school and are complimentary of the work done by the staff and governors.  Actions to further improve the school are to be progressed, with the goal of being judged outstanding in our next SIAMS inspection.
