Covid-19 Response Guidance

 10.9.20

The current guidance is that anyone showing symptoms of Coronavirus and their household should self isolate and get a test.  The symptoms are:

  • a high temperature
  • a new continuous cough (coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change of smell or taste

Parents should familiarise themselves with the Covid response flowchart below which sets out the steps to take should your child exhibit symptoms.  It also shows the steps the school will take to keep parents informed.  Please note that we will not be informing parents every time a child goes for a test, neither will we be naming children or families in our communications.

At this time of year, and with all of the children returning to school, there will be children who become unwell.  Should the symptoms be those above then parents should phone 111 and follow their advice.  This is going to be very common in the coming weeks.  School attendance is mandatory unless there is a valid reason for absence.

The school is preparing information sheets for parents to prepare them for a number of scenarios that may lie ahead so that you know what will happen, how you will know and what provision can be made to continue children's learning.

Scenario 1: My child has to self-isolate, what happens about their learning?

Scenario 2:   A child or adult in school receives a positive test result.  Which will result in all school contacts having to self isolate for 14 days.

Scenario 3:   A child or adult in school is the contact of someone with a positive test result. Which will result in those individuals having to self isolate for 14 days.

Scenario 4:   A number of staff are ill or are self isolating.  Which could lead to a class being unsafe to run through lack of staffing in the school.
