Winkfield St Mary's CE Primary School

Terracycling

We're excited to share some fantastic news with you all! As part of our work on sustainability this year, Winkfield St Mary's has started to recycle with TerraCycle®'s Green School Project. The best part? Contributing to it helps our school raise funds and teach the importance of recycling to empower future generations to take action at no cost to you!

How it works

  • Children, staff and parents can drop off their hard-to-recycle rubbish at our recycling point which is located at the green shed in the main car park (this used to be the PTA shed).
  • Once we have a full box, we send it to TerraCycle® (using a free shipping label).
  • TerraCycle® awards us points that we can redeem for donations to the school.
  • If you’re interested to find out more about how TerraCycle® recycles your rubbish, click here

Here’s what you can drop off:

1. Babybel® packaging - this includes labels, net bags, metal clasps, individual babybel wrappers and the babybel wax - for more information, please click here.

2. Biscuit, cracker and cake wrappers from all brands - for more information, please click here.

3. The Pringles® Tubes - this includes the tall and small pringles tubs (please not alternative brands nor plastic lids!) - - for more information, please click here.

4. The Taylors Coffee and Yorkshire Tea - this includes all brands of outer packaging for coffee bags, all brands of large bags of tea bags, loose leaf tea packs - for more information, please click here.

5. The Warburtons Bakery - any brand of plastic bread bags and closure tags, any brand of plastic bakery packaging (e.g crumpet wrappers) - for more information, please click here.

A couple of tips:

Start collecting accepted items in a box at home and bring it in once it’s full. Please make sure only to drop off accepted items (listed above). Items don’t have to be fully cleaned, but please remove as much product (e.g. crumbs from crisp packets) as possible. Please drop your items into the correct boxes which will be clearly labelled.  We look forward to recycling with you! The more you drop off, the more you help your school raise funds and help us empower future generations to take action.
