Welcome to Our Reception Class Pages
In Reception we are always busy and have lots of fun and adventures as we learn lots of new things, work hard and play. We have a safe and secure environment and learn in a structured and stimulating setting using lots of fun and exciting resources. Our highly experienced and qualified teachers and teaching assistants are:
Mrs Hartland (Monday to Wednesday)
Mrs Evans (Thursday and Friday)
Ms Birkett (Monday to Friday)
Mrs Coope (Monday to Friday AM)
Feel free to come and speak to any of us if you have any questions and concerns. Alternatively you can put a note in your child's reading record for us to read and we will respond to it as soon as possible.
Reception year at Winkfield St Mary's is an important foundation to their learning and we have created a curriculum which will prepare children to be ready for Year 1 learning. You can access a document which explains this here.
On this page you will find key diary dates and details of our home learning for the Autumn Term 2020. Reading books will be changed 2 times a week on a Monday and Thursday. Never force your child to read but aim to read with them as often as possible. Please remember to sign the reading record so we know they have read their book.

Home Learning
During the Autumn term we send home a handwriting sheet for your child to complete every Monday. Please support your child to use the correct formation (we teach a cursive script at Winkfield St Marys). Please also encourage your child to hold their pencil correctly, using a tripod grip. We also send home a phonics book for your children to practice the sounds of the letters, the accompanying jolly phonics song and sounding out words from a word box. Additionally we have a homework grid for this half term for you to complete when convenient to you and your child. (see below)
