Welcome to Our Reception Class Pages
In Reception we are always busy and have lots of fun and adventures as we learn lots of new things, work hard and play. We have a safe and secure environment and learn in a structured and stimulating setting using lots of fun and exciting resources. Our highly experienced and qualified teachers and teaching assistants are:
Mrs Hartland (Monday to Wednesday)
Mrs Evans (Thursday and Friday)
Ms Birkett (Monday to Friday)
Feel free to come and speak to any of us if you have any questions and concerns. Alternatively you can put a note in your child's reading record for us to read and we will respond to it as soon as possible.
Reception year at Winkfield St Mary's is an important foundation to their learning and we have created a curriculum which will prepare children to be ready for Year 1 learning. You can access a document which explains this here.
On this page you will find key diary dates and details of our home learning for the Spring Term 2020. Reading books will be changed 3 times a week on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Never force your child to read but aim to read with them as often as possible. Please remember to sign the reading record so we know they have read their book.

Parents Evening 26th and 27th March
End Term - 4th April
During the Spring term we send home 5 'wise owl' words each week for your child to learn to read (ideally by sight but sounding is applauded too). Each Monday we will ask the children to read the 5 words then we will add 5 more for the following week. In the same book will be a weekly 'maths challenge, a short, usually practical, maths activity you can complete with your child. Additionally we have a homework grid for this half term for you to complete when convenient to you and your child. (see below)
