Welcome to Our Reception Class Pages
In Reception we are always busy and have lots of fun and adventures as we learn lots of new things, work hard and play. We have a safe and secure environment and learn in a structured and stimulating setting using lots of fun and exciting resources. Our highly experienced and qualified teachers and teaching assistants are:
Mrs Hartland (Monday to Wednesday)
Mrs Evans (Thursday and Friday)
Ms Gallagher and Miss Fazey (Monday to Friday)
Feel free to come and speak to any of us if you have any questions and concerns. Alternatively you can put a note in your child's reading record for us to read or e-mail us via the school secretary (email@example.com) and we will respond to your messages as soon as possible.
Reception year at Winkfield St Mary's is an important foundation to their learning and we have created a curriculum which will prepare children to be ready for Year 1 learning. You can access a document which explains this here.

PE is on a Tuesday afternoon. Please name all PE clothing! We visit the Library on Wednesday mornings when library books will be changed (so they should be returned each Wednesday please).
Reading books will be changed each Friday. Please ensure you write in the reading diary when you have read with your child (every evening if possible). You will shortly receive a phonics book to enable you to practice the sounds we have taught each week. Also, during this term we will start to send home weekly handwriting practice sheets. (changed each Monday)
The topic for this half term is "All About Me" and the topic for next half term is "Toys and Christmas" See below for this half term's curriculum map and a few ideas of ways to support your child's learning at home.
